March Meta Matters Challenge, Check-in 3
Mar. 12th, 2025 02:10 pmHello everyone! It's check-in time again to see how we're all getting along with our meta importing.
Comment below with any of the following:
1) Do you know of any ways to promote meta you've copied over? If so, share your ideas!
2) Did you write new meta based on the last post's prompt? Share it here! Or if you didn't, share a link(s) to a work that you've recently relocated that you'd like to get more eyes on.
Please don't hesitate to do self-promotion! Anyone participating in or following this challenge is doing so because meta interests them. So it's very likely someone would like to check out those works.

Date: 2025-03-12 07:28 pm (UTC)This has gone a bit slower than expected because I was finding more content I hadn't yet copied over. This a bit puzzling at first but then I realized that, when the challenge started in 2020, I had still been figuring out how to organize the works. So some content was getting written even as I hadn't yet begun to archive those strands of posts.
I still think I can catch up to 2023 this year, but I'm less sure now that I'll get through 2024 as well. A lot will depend on how often I posted. I should have remembered that 2020-2021 were very active years online!
And speaking of activity, although I was not able to write new meta for the prompt, I will share this piece which I had to update a bit for the transfer. It's on a topic I think anyone here could weigh in on, Fandom on Dreamwidth: https://squidgeworld.org/works/72780
What's interesting is that since that post was written I have noticed a definite dropoff in readership here which I think may have a lot to do with people changing their habits post-pandemic, and which may signal another chapter in the fandom + Dreamwidth partnership.

Date: 2025-03-14 01:20 am (UTC)To be sure the fandom calendar community stays very busy! Lots of activity being linked there. However I can tell that readership is down for my own account and there have been conversations at Pillowfort about the same thing happening despite the site continuing to grow.
I find it particularly noticeable because there was a lot of activity in 2020 yet as 2021 goes on I notice it decreases. And these days there isn't much for my posts.

Date: 2025-03-23 03:04 am (UTC)Oh I see, I wonder if that has something to do with the state of world affairs right now. I haven't had much energy to journal so I've just been popping in to do certain fandom things (like this challenge!).

Date: 2025-03-13 10:15 am (UTC)I'm still in mourning over that tbh....... maybe I'll find an opportunity this month to get back into it and rewrite it? I still mostly remember the points I was making and I think it's something I could get really worked up and passionate about again if I immersed myself in once more...
