March Meta Matters Challenge, Check-in 6

I've just about hit my (revised) target! I will definitely finish reviewing and copying over from my 2023 blog posts.

However I did run into a, not roadblock, but realization. In 2023 I began modding tv_talk and ended up posting about TV there and not in my own blog, for the most part. So I need to review both that and disneyplusshows to pick up discussion I never copied over to my own account. So I might not actually be done with 2023 by Tuesday.

I don't know about favorite piece per se, as probably my favorite thing was rediscovering all the TV shows, films and movies I viewed between 2020-2023 and largely forgotten about. But here's an essay I copied over this week: "Y/N Fic in the Commercial Space" https://squidgeworld.org/works/73281

Finished my goals for the month! As with last year, I started in mid-February in anticipation, and ran out of steam in mid-March. I love meta, but both archiving and writing it is mentally taxing (in different ways) so I'm glad to take a break for a bit, even though there's so much more I want to do.

Thanks for organizing and running this event; it's really helpful to have a dedicated chunk of time to focus on this and other people to connect with.

Congrats to you! Haha, yes I do understand about the running out of steam part. Depending on how much one has to work with it can be very time consuming.

I do plan to wrap up all of 2023 this year (and go through all the disneyplusentries as well), so I'll be doing some more work in coming months. But I need a break as well, and am glad to leave 24-25 for next year's event 😉

I think my favorite meta from last year was "How to Hack the Snowflake Challenge." It's a big event, but many people struggle to keep up with the challenges. So I wrote out tips for a more fun and effective Snowflake experience.

Just the usual busyness, and the new meta wound up being huge. So I didn't get to all the extra items. I did, however, manage to archive last year's meta. That and the new one were the main goals, so I'm reasonably pleased with my results. I just finished posting the last installment of the new one, so here it is. Please link widely in hopes of encouraging more people to write meta.

Congratulations on reaching your goals! That's been a lot of work for sure. And that's a neat piece of meta. There's not much that's ever been written about the many fests, challenges and fandom activities that go on each year.

I focused on a particular type of writing, because I love fanifestos. Maybe someone else will pick up the event side, because I don't do much with bangs, exchanges, etc.
