[community profile] marchmetamatterschallenge is now closed for 2026. But meta creation goes on! While the challenge itself runs during the month of March, backing up works can continue throughout the year, either when you have time or as you write new works.

Hopefully this community has provided encouragement and incentive during this month that will keep everyone thinking about duplicating their meta elsewhere, both older meta and new content you write. That also means that the Meta Matters Challenge Communities on AO3 and Squidgeworld can be added to throughout the year if you wish. And the Challenge will be back next year!

Remember, no matter how many additional works you copied over during the challenge, you've helped preserve those works and possibly exposed them to new audiences.

For those of you using Dreamwidth don't forget about options like [community profile] meta_warehouse and fandom specific meta communities for sharing your work. Thank you to everyone for taking part and following along this month. It's been great to hear about more works getting preserved and a few new ones getting made as well 🙂

I did get a few meta tasks done in March, though much less than I hoped.

For anyone wishing more meta, there is a list of Meta communities. In particular, see:

I got the half dozen I planned to write done and posted by the last minute but they're there.

Just finished my wrap post, where I ended up reflecting a little on meta and who reads what meta. It and the rest of my archived meta are in my March Meta Matters Challenge tag. Although I didn't feel up to getting everything onto Squidge or AO3, I would like to get around to it at some point, and now the many Tumblr posts -> collated Dreamwidth posts will be much easier to slap in elsewhere.

Thanks again for running this! See you all next year :o

TLDR Details

The March Meta Matters Challenge is focused on not just new meta, but making sure older meta gets a chance to be read and remain a part of fandom history. Join us in March to start archiving your work!
